Common Questions

Select a question below to learn more about Connect and our services.

How do I access Connect’s network in my community?

Check if you're in the Connect service area and choose wireless or fibre-optic internet. For fibre-optic, you can sign up to have a fibre connection delivered to your home. Once you have a fibre connection, you can purchase internet services through a registered Retail Service Provider (RSP) serving your area.

What speeds are available and what are the benefits of fibre?

Connect offers a range of speeds from 50 Mbps to 1 Gbps. The benefits of fibre include faster internet, greater reliability, and future-proofing your connection to handle increasing data demands.

What impact will construction have on my property?

Our construction process is designed to minimize disruption to your property. Any necessary work will be communicated in advance, and we will work with property owners to ensure the safety and security of their property.

When is Connect coming to my community?

Connect and our partners are currently working on fibre optic installations in our member municipalities and planning additional wireless towers in Red Deer County in 2025. Keep an eye out for notifications that Connect is working in your area.

How do I locate my underground fibre before digging?

Always check where the underground utilities are before digging! Please visit Alberta Utility Safety Partners (formerly Alberta One-Call) online to get a locate.

Who owns the infrastructure after it’s been installed?

Connect owns the infrastructure.

After I sign up for a plan with a RSP, who can I call if I’m having trouble with my connection?

Call your Retailer Service Provider with any issues (connectivity problems, line strikes, etc.).

How does the fibre cable provide internet?

Fibre optic cables have been installed throughout, please refer to the service area map for further information. The fibre optic cables are tied into transport fibre that connect to the larger infrastructure of the world wide web.

What do I do when I’m ready to sign up for a plan with an RSP?

Firstly, you would need to choose between our broadband services: wireless or fibre optic. With either option you would need to ensure that any required infrastructure is installed. Following that installation, you could choose a retail service provided from our website and contact them for installation.

What differentiates Connect’s wireless internet?

Connect builds fibre-fed towers to ensure that customers have the best possible speeds. Additionally, the radios were specifically selected for rural Alberta’s landscape including its unique geographical features and vegetation.

Register today to have a fibre-optic connection delivered to your home or business. Once the complete access agreement is received, a Connect Customer Service Representative will contact you with further details, and to schedule an appointment for installation.
