For the first time in nearly a century, the Village of Delburne is home to a full-time medical practice, thanks to the dedication of Dr. M. Kauchali — and the transformative power of reliable internet provided by CONNECT’s fibre optic network.

Dr. Kauchali’s decision to open his practice in Delburne wasn’t made lightly. Like many modern healthcare professionals, he depends on high-speed, stable internet to run multiple digital systems: patient records, diagnostics, scheduling software, and secure communications. Without that connectivity, the practice couldn’t function — and Dr. Kauchali wouldn’t have moved forward.

From LTE Frustration to Fibre Confidence

Initially, Dr. Kauchali relied on an LTE box — a mobile broadband solution that, while convenient, comes with serious limitations. LTE service in rural areas often suffers from low bandwidth, latency issues, and inconsistent performance, especially when multiple systems or users are online. In Dr. Kauchali’s case, he could only run one system at a time — and even then, it would sometimes crash. Support and service response times also fell short of expectations.

That changed when Red Deer County and CONNECT worked together to bring fibre to Delburne. 

With CONNECT’s fibre optic network installed, Dr. Kauchali saw immediate improvements. Today, he runs multiple systems simultaneously, has experienced no unexpected outages, and has high praise for the CONNECT Team. What was once a technological barrier to care is now a seamless, reliable part of his day-to-day operations.
